Client Portal

Invite external clients into specific projects so they can follow progress and collaborate — without seeing anything else in your workspace.

Inviting a Client

Open the Clients Tab

Open your project and go to the Clients tab. This tab is only visible to members who can add project members (project owners and admins).

Send an Invitation

Click “Invite Client”, enter the client’s Email Address, and optionally add a personal note in Message (optional). Click Send Invitation.

Alternatively, click “Get Link” to copy a shareable invitation link. Link invites expire after 7 days.

How Clients Join

  • New users receive an email (“You’ve been invited to {project}”) with a Set Up Your Account button. They create a password, log in, and land directly in the project.
  • Existing workspace users are added to the project immediately and receive a “You’ve been added to {project}” email.
  • Link invites open an acceptance page — the client logs in and clicks Accept Invitation to join the project.

What Clients Can See and Do

Client users get a deliberately scoped experience:

AreaClient access
SidebarOnly Projects is visible — no Sales, Finance, HR, or Settings
ProjectsRead-only access to the projects they’ve been invited to
TasksView tasks, create new tasks, and edit or delete their own
CommentsRead comments, add comments, and edit or delete their own
Files & ReportsView files and reports attached to the project
Kanban boardView workflow columns and task progress

Clients cannot manage project members, edit other people’s tasks, upload files, or change project settings. Access is enforced by the built-in Client role — see Roles & Permissions.

Managing Clients & Invitations

The Clients tab shows two lists:

  • Active Clients — everyone with client access, with name, email, status, and date added. Use the remove button to revoke a client’s access to the project.
  • Invitations — every invitation with its type (email or link), who sent it, and a status tag:
StatusMeaning
PendingSent but not yet accepted — can be revoked
AcceptedThe client has joined the project
DeclinedThe client declined the invitation
ExpiredThe invite link passed its 7-day expiry
RevokedThe invitation was cancelled by your team

To cancel a pending invitation, click the delete button on its row and confirm Revoke.

Client access is per-project. Inviting a client to one project does not grant them access to any other project in your workspace.
