Time TrackingWorklog Lock

Worklog Lock

Automatically lock time entries after a cutoff so payroll is calculated on final, unchanged data. Locked entries can’t be created, edited, or deleted without admin approval.

Configuring the Lock

Navigate to Settings → Worklog Lock and open Lock Configuration:

SettingWhat it does
Enable Worklog LockingTurns automatic locking on or off
Lock After (hours)Hours after the end of each day before that day’s logs lock. E.g. 24 means Monday’s logs lock at the end of Tuesday
TimezoneThe timezone used to determine end-of-day for lock calculations

Click Save Changes to apply.

This page is only visible to admins with the manage WorkLogLock permission. Those admins also bypass locks entirely, so they can correct entries at any time.

What Locking Looks Like in Work Mode

Entries stay fully editable until the cutoff passes. Once a date locks, Work Mode shows a banner for that date:

  • Locked (red) — “Work logs for this date are locked. Adding, editing, or deleting entries is disabled.” Adding, dragging, and resizing entries is turned off, and the backend rejects changes too.
  • Request pending (amber) — your unlock request is awaiting review.
  • Unlock granted (green) — shows when your temporary unlock expires.

Requesting an Unlock

Open the Request Dialog

On a locked date in Work Mode, click “Request Unlock” in the banner.

Explain Why

Fill in the Reason field (at least 10 characters) describing why you need to modify that day’s logs.

Submit

Click Submit Request. Your admin is asked to review it — you can have one pending request per date.

Approving or Rejecting Requests

Admins review requests in Settings → Worklog Lock under Pending Unlock Requests. Each request shows the requester, the date, their reason, and when it was filed.

  • Approve — the requester can modify that date’s work logs; the unlock expires after 24 hours
  • Reject — the request is denied and the date stays locked

Approved unlocks are temporary. After the 24-hour window closes, the date locks again automatically.
