Salary Structures
Salary structures define how CTC breaks down into earnings, deductions, and employer contributions. Build them once as components and templates, then assign them through employment contracts.
Salary Components
Components are the building blocks of a salary. Manage them at Settings → Payroll & HR → Salary Components.
| Field | Options |
|---|---|
| Type | Earning, Deduction, Employer Contribution |
| Calculation Type | % of CTC, % of Basic, Flat Amount, Formula, Slab Based |
| Flags | Statutory, Taxable, Active |
Each component also has a Name, Code, default percentage/amount, and an optional Max Limit. Use the seed action to load standard defaults (Basic, HRA, PF, etc.) instead of creating them one by one.
Salary Templates
Templates combine components into a reusable structure. Manage them at Settings → Payroll & HR → Salary Templates.
Create a Template
Click to add a New Salary Template, give it a Template Name and optional description.
Add Components
For each component, set either % of CTC or a Fixed/mo (₹) amount. The template computes the full breakdown from an employee’s annual CTC.
Set a Default
Mark one template as the Default template to pre-select it when creating contracts.
Assigning a Salary to an Employee
Salaries are assigned through the employment contract:
- Go to Payroll → Contracts and click New Contract (or Revise Contract on an existing one).
- In the Salary Structure step, pick the Salary Template and enter the Annual CTC.
- Tickmark calculates the component-wise monthly breakdown automatically.
Salary revisions create a new contract version with an Effective From date, and back-dated revisions surface as Arrears in the next payroll run.
Changing a template does not rewrite existing contracts — revise the contract to apply a new structure. See Contracts.
